Facebook vs Twitter Social Media Marketing CTR and Loyalty

I hate asking to be someone’s friend. If I talk about a client or project after they accept, it feels like i’m spamming them. If they totally opt in, I don’t feel as bad talking about my work.

So I have 1,400 facebook friends. I didn’t ask to friend a single one of them. Ummm… Actually, there was that one Ukrainian Blond in Med School.

Getting back on track, facebook friends are more valuable than Twitter followers. They get less noise. The facebook stream moves far more slowly than Twitter’s. They have more access to you. For every 1000 clicks my 1,400 facebook friends give me, my 16,000 twitter friends only muster 200 clicks. So in essence, 1,400 facebook friends are worth 80,000 Twitter friends. I have 28,000+ Youtube subscribers too. I’ll toss them in this equation in another blog post.

1,400 facebook friends are worth 80,000 Twitter friends

So, how do you get thousands of facebook friends? Offer value. I create mp3 lectures on various topics and post it on my facebook wall. I broadcast to the world that they can either pay $27 for the MP3 or get it free if they are my facebook friend.

Simple no? Umm… yeah, about that… I’ll tell you how many clicks my Youtube 20,000 subscribers generate and how You can get that many too if you facebook friend me. =p Just ask on my wall. See you on facebook!

Thank you for this information. I personally don’t ask for friend request myself. I have created my own strategy that works as well. I have 3000 plus friends and get at least ten friend request a day. Now I am being very selective with whom I accept as a friend hence the 5000 friend limit. I know I can get a fan page but truthfully I am not excited about maintaining it.

On the other hand I would like to learn more on how to increase my subscribers on you-tube. My profile is a deserted island with no coconuts if you know what I mean.

What’s your goal here? What’s the purpose of accumulating friends that you have absolutely no connection to, nothing in common with? Is there a contest or something? Because I don’t see the value in having “friends” whom you don’t even know.

    Hi Liz,

The purpose of amassing friends in Facebook or followers in Twitter is simple… To create a community of people who are interested and passionate about sharing and spreading thoughts
